Many thanks to everyone who submitted images for our fourth competition of the season and also this time around a big thanks thanks also goes to those who participated in the “members-own” judging which made this a very enjoyable competition indeed.

Harvest Mice
Congratulations go to Steve Gresty for both images, which make a stonking “double top”!
Many thanks to everyone who submitted images for our third competition of the season.
The competition was for mobile device capture, but with no restrictions on post processing methods.
The competition was kindly judged by Darrell Oakden DPAGB BPE4* EFIAP who is an experienced and accredited L&CPU judge. We got some great feedback from Darrell and some insights into the judging process itself. So I would like to extend our thanks to Darrell for taking the time to consider our images and providing some great constructive comments.

Many thanks to everyone who submitted images for our second competition of the season.
The theme was ‘Open’ and the competition was judged by Conor Molloy who very kindly stepped in at the last minute! Conor is a very experienced photographer and former MCC club president, so it was great to welcome him back to the club this year … thank you Conor!
We got some great feedback from Conor, and the informal discussion session afterwards was very useful and interesting in sharing our thoughts about the images and how they might be improved.

Many thanks to everyone who submitted images for our first competition of the season. The theme was ‘Open’ and the competition was judged by Graham Currey who is an L&CPU judge and runs Photo Session Days.
Once again we got some great feedback from Graham, who is well known to many members of the club and more widely in the ‘tog scene.
We would like to offer Graham thanks for his time, insights and amusing anecdotes which made the evening very enjoyable indeed.
There were five (yes 5!!!) images that scored a maximum of 20 points which is kind-of amazing, but then there were some kind-of amazing images.
The 5 images scoring 20 were,
Dirt Devils – by Steve Gresty – overall winner
Tower of power – urban confrontation – by Dave Boam
Many thanks to everyone who submitted images for our fifth and final competition of the season which was for digital images.
The theme was “Your Locality”, being within 10km of Macclesfield town centre. The competition was judged by Rob Hockney, who is an ex-MCC member, current member of North Cheshire Photographic Society, is highly active with the L&CPU and holds a number of photographic distinctions including DPAGB and BPE5*.
Rob provided some very direct and constructive feedback, and was keen to point out that from his perspective photographic competitions are about judding the art that is “made” rather than simply a photo that is “taken”. You can see some of Rob’s own work over at his web site robhockney.myportfolio.com.
